Which colour suits me? Test it free on your own camera
A free colour test for Indian skin tones. Try a saree, lehenga or salwar suit in 24 shades on your own face, compare two side by side, then ask the family on WhatsApp.
Turn on your front camera. The outfit follows your face, so each shade sits right under your chin.
Tap a mirror, then pick its shade. Look at your under-eyes and skin: the right shade makes you look fresh and bright, the wrong one makes you look tired or grey.
Your camera stays on your phone. Nothing is recorded or uploaded, and your looks disappear when you close this page.

How the free colour test works
Colour analysts hold fabric drapes under your chin and watch your skin. The right colour makes you look fresh and bright. The wrong one shows up as tired eyes, grey skin or a shadow along the jaw. Colour Studio runs the same draping test on your phone's front camera, so you can test colours on your own face at home.
- Turn on your front camera and face a window in daylight. No camera? Upload a selfie instead.
- Pick two shades and see them side by side, draped as a saree, lehenga or salwar suit.
- Look at your under-eyes and skin, not the outfit. Keep the shade that makes your face look brighter.
- Check it under hall lights and camera flash, then send your favourites to the family on WhatsApp.
Start with your undertone
Every skin tone has colours that make it glow. What decides them is your undertone, the warm, cool or neutral tint under your skin, more than how light or deep your skin is. Look at the veins on your inner wrist in daylight and think about which jewellery flatters you more.
| Undertone | How to tell | Shades that usually suit |
|---|---|---|
| Warm | Veins look green. Gold jewellery looks better on you than silver. | Marigold, Mustard, Antique gold, Sindoor red, Mehendi green |
| Cool | Veins look blue or purple. Silver looks better on you than gold. | Royal blue, Rani pink, Diva purple, Lavender, Silver grey |
| Neutral | Veins look blue-green. Gold and silver both suit you. | Peacock blue, Onion pink, Bottle green, Bridal maroon, Ivory |
Saree colours for every Indian skin tone
Beautiful colours exist for every skin tone. These are starting points that many women with each skin tone love. Use them with your undertone above, because two women with the same skin tone can suit very different colours. Tap any shade to try it in the mirror.
Fair or light skin tone
Shades to try first
Style with contrast
Ivory, Champagne and Blush peach sit close to light skin, so they look best with a rich border or a dark blouse.
Wheatish or medium skin tone
Shades to try first
Style with contrast
Champagne and Antique gold sit close to medium skin, so add contrast near the face with a border, blouse or jewellery.
Dusky skin tone
Shades to try first
Style with contrast
Muted shades like Mehendi green and Silver grey have less contrast with dusky skin, so pair them with a bright border or zari.
Deep or dark skin tone
Shades to try first
Style with contrast
Navy, Black and Aubergine sit close to deep skin, so they shine with zari, a bright blouse or gold jewellery.

Questions about colour
Which saree colour suits dusky skin?
Rich, clear colours are a lovely starting point for dusky skin: mustard, royal blue, bottle green, rani pink, bridal maroon and ivory with a bold border. Your undertone changes the answer, so test two shades side by side on your own camera.
Which saree colour suits dark skin?
Deep and dark skin looks striking in bright, clear colours with strong contrast: haldi yellow, royal blue, rani pink, peacock blue, sindoor red and ivory. Navy, black and aubergine shine when paired with zari or a bright blouse. Check your undertone, then compare two shades on your own camera.
Which colour suits wheatish skin?
Wheatish skin suits warm and jewel colours such as marigold, peacock blue, sindoor red, bottle green and rose. Shades very close to your skin, like champagne and beige, look best with contrast near your face.
How do I find my skin undertone?
Check the veins on your inner wrist in daylight. Green veins usually mean a warm undertone, blue or purple veins mean cool, and a mix means neutral. If gold jewellery flatters you more than silver, you are probably warm.
Is the colour test free? Do I need an app?
Yes, it is free, with no login and no app. Colour Studio works in the browser on any phone or computer with a front camera. You can also upload a selfie.
Is my camera recorded or uploaded?
No. The camera stays on your phone. Nothing is recorded or uploaded, and your looks disappear when you close the page unless you save or share them.
Can I try lehenga and salwar suit colours too?
Yes. Choose a saree, lehenga or salwar suit, try 24 shades, compare two side by side, and preview them in daylight, hall lights, camera flash and evening stage light.
Why does a colour look different in the store?
Every phone screen shows colour a little differently, and fabric changes with weave and zari. Use Colour Studio to shortlist shades, then check the real fabric at any Diva Celebration Lounge.
